The Borneo Cultural Festival had been around in S1Bu for nearly 9 to 10 years (believe or not?) It started from a small scale to the present a little bit of International Standard (?) and from observations, only a handful of Tourists were around during this event even though it's the holiday season in their homeland. Most of those coming for this event or festival were the locals from the lower & upper basin of Rejang, a few performers from Overseas, organisers from outside S1BU. Those benefited during this event were those coffee shop owners , budget hotels around the vicinity of this function. Normally some of the coffee shops closed about 8.00 pm and with these function going on, some of the coffee shop closed at about 12.00 am to 1.00am. I'm sure that these coffeeshop owners are very happy especially this event or function is round the corner.

Kuching had Rain Forest World Music Festival, Miri had World Jazz Festival and they are having the same theme....Music. What's S1BU have ? S1Bu had music, dances and mixtures of all (?) .There is one event or function which had a great potential to develop into a world class type of event. The theme is "Art". What's? What art ? Body Arts? It's Tattoo. Eventhough, the 2nd Borneo International Tattoo Convention had long passed and I still consider it's still the number 1 event in S1BU . The 2nd Borneo International Tattoo Convention was held in SIBU at Sibu Municipal Council prized recreation park at Taman Jubilee or Jubilee Park , Jalan Bukit Aup, Sibu. A few minutes drive from the Sibu Town.
This event or function was held in year 2007 and it's supposed to be a once in two(2) year event. It's due now. It had been observed that the tourist turn up at this venue is rather good than most of the events in Sibu. The response from locals was rather lukewarm. Some said Tattoo associated with bad hats or gangsterism. Friends from outside were interested and very keen to come if there is a 3rd Convention. I do not know whether anyone had notice in the national tabloid about one Singaporean, Miss Daphne Ang Ming Li , a nasty Gymnast and she was here with her friends during this convention.
